SADDLES

Saddles

One of five touch points on an upright bicycle, the others being the two pedals and the two handles on the handlebars, is a bicycle saddle, also called a bicycle seat. Also, the back is often protected by a bicycle seat in a particular sense.

The width of the saddle and how well it suits your ischial tuberosities are mainly related to choosing a bike saddle that is the best fit for your body (sit bones). In general, you want a saddle that is wide enough for strong support, but not so wide that rubbing and chafing are induced by it.
